Possible dog fighting discovered at home in York County

The York County Sheriff’s Office Code Enforcement Unit seized 42 pit bull dogs this week after discovering evidence of possible dog fighting at a property in the McConnells community.

On Thursday, June 20, deputies were investigating an ongoing issue violating the York County animal restraining requirements ordinance near the 1300 block of McConnells Highway.

During that investigation, deputies discovered numerous pit bulls chained to car axles buried in the ground. They also discovered evidence of potential dog fighting.

Deputies obtained a search warrant in reference to animal fighting for the property, which allowed them to seize 42 dogs from the property.

“This is a good example of Animal Control and the York County Sheriff’s Office working together to protect our community and animals,” said Sheriff Kevin Tolson.

The investigation remains ongoing. Further information about the pit bulls dogs and their conditions will be released by the York County Animal Control.
