The countdown is on for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing with a record high jackpot of $1.5 million.
The drawing could turn one lucky person or a group of people into instant billionaires. There's a chance that if no one wins Wednesday night, the jackpot would go up to $2 billion.
Wednesday's drawing is at 10:59 p.m. In the Carolinas, sales end at 9:59 p.m. The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
Susie Cooper, who lives in Mt. Holly, is buying a Powerball ticket for the first time. She said she doesn’t know what she would do if she wins. Cooper said, “It hasn’t crossed my mind. I don’t think you’ll win. There’s so many people doing it, and I’m just doing it for the, ‘Why not?’ I’m here, might as well do it anyway, so I haven’t thought about it.”
