Prosecutors seek death penalty for NC man accused of beating woman to death

Prosecutors for the state of North Carolina say they are seeking the death penalty for a man accused of beating a woman to death in Burke County.

Joshua Nathaniel Beard, 37, was arrested in Myrtle Beach on June 27 in connection to the murder of Robin Berry Teague, 63.

Teague was found dead inside her home around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17 along 2273 Hwy 70 in Connelly Springs. Investigators say she died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Days after the homicide investigation was launched, deputies released photos of a truck and driver that they believe could be connected to the murder. Beard was developed as a suspect, and was tracked down to South Carolina more than a month later.
