Republican VP nominee Mike Pence in Charlotte Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence wants to discuss North Carolina's economy, so he's visiting two plants in the state.

The Indiana governor planned to begin Wednesday by going to Charlotte Pipe and Foundry to speak about manufacturing. 

Doors open at 8 a.m. and the event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. The event is invitation only.

He will hold a rally in Leland later on Wednesday that will be open to the public.

Then Pence is heading to Wilmington, where he will tour a port terminal.
