Republicans say BBs fired at North Carolina county office

BAYBORO, N.C. (AP) - Republicans say their office in a far eastern North Carolina county has been shot at recently with BB guns, but no one was hurt.

Pamlico County GOP Chairman Dave Wickersham said Wednesday no volunteers were inside when two shootings of the front windows of the county headquarters occurred in the last three weeks. The party reported what happened to the Pamlico County sheriff's office.

The county chairman's statement comes after someone firebombed the Orange County Republican headquarters over the weekend. There were no injuries there either, but the violence led state and national candidates from both parties to condemn what happened as a threat to democracy.

Wickersham says he's committed to keeping the Pamlico GOP office open to the public and says additional security measures will be taken.
