Rocky River High School students robbed classmate at gunpoint

Three Rocky River High School students have been charged with robbing a fellow classmate at gunpoint Monday, the Mint Hill Police Department confirmed Tuesday. Two of the students have already been arrested while police are still searching for the third.

Rocky River High School officials told police Monday a 15-year-old student was approached by three students, police said. The students surrounded the victim and one of the suspects produced a gun and demanded money. By Wednesday, police were able to recover the suspect's weapon, which was identified as a BB gun.

"The victim complied and gave his wallet to the subjects, who then walked away and could be seen by the victim dividing up the money that was taken. The victim's account of the incident is corroborated by the schools surveillance system," police said in a released statement.

Moises Hernandez, 17, and another 15-year-old student have been charged with Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. A warrant was issued for Brandon Roberson. Roberson, 16, was located Tuesday night and charged with with Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Possession of a Weapon on School Property. Police said they recovered the BB gun at his home.

The name of the 15-year-old suspect and 15-year-old victim are not being released because the students are minors.

Charlotte Mecklenburg school officials used the Connect5 system to telephone parents and tell them that extra safety measures at being put in place They believe the incident was isolated.

No injuries were reported.
