Salisbury bus driver accused of assaulting 7-year-old autistic student

SALISBURY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A Rowan County school bus driver is accused of hitting a 7-year-old autistic child.
Salisbury police say the alleged incident happened on Jan. 14 onboard a school bus from Overton Elementary between the bus driver and a student diagnosed with autism.
After speaking to a witness and reviewing the video surveillance from the bus, detectives charged the bus driver, Grace Oshields King, of Salisbury with assault on a child under 12 and assault on a handicap person, both misdemeanors.
King turned herself in to Salisbury police. Her court date is set for Feb. 20, 2019.
