SC deputy accused of exchanging sexual favors for leniency in woman's case

Authorities in Chester say a deputy was arrested after he promised to go easy on a woman’s criminal charges if she gave him nude photos and performed sex acts on him.

Deputy Bryant Joseph Thorpe Jr., 31, has been charged with misconduct in office and taking bribes.

The woman was arrested for offenses involving a misdemeanor, and misconduct, according to online Chester County jail records.

The warrants say for the next three months, Thorpe “had her perform sexual acts on him” and asked her for nude photos, implying he would be lenient in her criminal case.

Robert Sprouse, Chief Deputy at the Chester County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thorpe was arrested Friday, March 29 by the State Law Enforcement Division. Thorpe was terminated from his job at the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

Back in 2018, Thorpe was awarded deputy of the quarter, according to a tweet from the Sheriff's Office.
