CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A second juvenile has been charged in connection to an east Charlotte homicide that took place in October, police say.
The name of the juvenile was not released, but CMPD says they served the suspect with a petition charging them with the murder of Jessica Dawn Smith.
17-year-old Yamina Rookard was arrested and charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in the case on Dec. 12.
Police say on October 17 at 11:22 p.m. officers were called to the 3100 block of Central Avenue in response to an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers found Jessica Dawn Smith, 29, with an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on scene.
Police say the investigation is active and ongoing.
