CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A man who was wanted in connection to a homicide in Catawba County this week has been arrested, the sheriff's office said.
Justin Drew Dalton, 32, was apprehended on Thursday, May 30 just before midnight following a brief foot chase with deputies. He has been charged with the murder of Emden Lee Syres Jr.
According to the sheriff's office, just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, Catawba County communications received a call from someone saying their co-worker hadn't shown up to work and they requested a welfare check.
A deputy went to the home in the 3000 block of Sigmon Dairy Road in Newton where they saw what appeared to be a dead body. A search warrant was obtained and investigators responded to the home. Emden Lee Syres Jr. was found inside the home deceased.
Dalton is currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Center.
