A boy in Lake Wales had been given a bicycle while he was undergoing treatment for cancer, only to have it stolen before he could ever ride it. But the Polk County Sheriff's Office stepped in with a wonderful surprise.

According to the sheriff's office, 13-year-old Daylin Campbell received the bike for Christmas as he was battling leukemia.

The sixth grader is thankfully now in remission, but hadn't yet been able to ride his prized possession since he was waiting for his strength to return, according to family friend Cori Shea, who posted about Daylin's stolen bike on Facebook.

After word spread on social media, Sheriff Grady Judd and two deputies surprised Daylin on Thursday with a brand-new bike, complete with a helmet and bike lock.

"It was definitely not the Sheriff's Department to replace it, but out of the goodness of their hearts, they did without being asked," wrote Daylin's mother Canice Jordan on Facebook. "And for that I'll forever be thankful for you all."
