Snow, ice could make early morning commute in mountain counties dicey

A light dusting of snow combined with a thin layer of ice is making for slick driving conditions in the mountain counties Tuesday morning.

Ashe, Avery and Watauga County Schools are all closed on Tuesday.

A stiff wind out of the northwest is creating blowing snow which is leading to half mile visibility at times.

Areas most affected by blowing snow will be along highways and ridge lines.

Use caution when driving in the mountains Tuesday morning.
