Son fatally shoots father after fight involving chainsaw

ALBEMARLE, N.C. - Stanly County Sheriffs say a father was fatally shot by his son after the two had a physical fight involving a chainsaw.

The incident happened at 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 27 at 24601 Highway 73 in Albemarle, N.C.

Investigators say Seth Harwood, 20, shot his father, Stanley Morton Harwood, 57, when Stanley gained access to a chainsaw after the physical altercation.

Officers say Stanley had multiple gunshot wounds and was laying just inside the rear door of the residence.

No charges have been filed. Stanley Co. Sheriff's Office authorities are still investigating the case and what may have sparked the fight.
