STATESVILLE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A group home employee in Statesville is facing multiple charges after deputies said she assaulted three mentally and physically disabled people, ages 12, 16 and 20-years-old.
A report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, April 4, claiming three disabled people were assaulted by an employee, identified as 24-year-old Brionna Janee Sherrill.
Faculty at the Statesville group home were cooperative throughout the investigation as numerous interviews were conducted.
Evidence was gathered and showed Sherrill was identified as the main suspect and she had assaulted three people at the group home. Based on interviews, the sheriff's office charged Sherrill with seven counts of misdemeanor assault on an individual with disabilities.
Sherill was arrested on Friday, May 3 and issued a $2,500 secured bond.
