A student was taken into custody after school officials say they located a gun at East Mecklenburg High School Monday.

School officials say they received a tip that there was a student with a gun on campus and contacted law enforcement. A student was searched without incident and the weapon was found.

The school was not placed on lockdown and there were no threats made to the students or staff. No one was injured.

Investigators say they later learned that the gun found on campus was stolen.

The student, 19-year-old Demondrez Dashay Tucker, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm on school grounds, and being in possession of a stolen firearm.
