A man wanted for sexually assaulting a woman in an east Charlotte home on Thursday has been taken into custody, according to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

On Friday, Oct. 19, 40-year-old Tommy Williamson was arrested and charged with attempted rape, assault on a female, two counts of first degree forcible sex offense and kidnapping.

A victim told CMPD that she had been with Williamson in a home in the 3500 block of Shamrock Dr. around 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 18 when he pulled out a weapon and sexually assaulted her.

She was able to free herself and call 911, but Williamson fled the residence before police arrived.

Williamson was located with the assistance of a K-9 and was taken to CMPD headquarters for an interview. He was later transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
