Suspect arrested in Statesville shooting that put 1 in hospital

A Statesville man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that put one person in the hospital, according to the Stateville Police Department. 

Obryan Tyquawn Glaspy, 30, charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or seriously injure and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officers responded to the 1800 block of Ora Dr. where they found the victim, David Gamble, 26, with a gunshot wound to the leg. 

Police say Gamble was taken to Baptist Hospital by Iredell County EMS for treatment. 

As a result of the investigation, interviews with witnesses and the victim, a description of the suspect vehicle was obtained. 

A short time later, officers found the suspect vehicle behind a house in the 300 block of N. Tradd St.  The vehicle was processed and the people in the vehicle were questioned.

Further information revealed that Glaspy was the suspect in this shooting. Investigators obtained warrants for his arrest and Glaspy was taken into custody on Stockton St. without incident. 

Authorities say additional charges may be pending.
