Suspect found with cocaine following police pursuit in Pineville

Cocaine and marijuana were discovered with a driver who police say crashed their vehicle early Wednesday morning following a brief police pursuit in Pineville. 

Officers said at 1:15 a.m. they attempted to pull over a vehicle for careless and reckless driving. The driver reportedly refused to pull over and traveled down South Blvd., crashing into a light pole near Woodlawn Road. 

According to Pineville Police, the driver jumped from the car and ran. An officer was able to take the person into custody after a short foot chase. 

The suspect was transported to the hospital as a precaution, police said. 

The driver was in possession of cocaine and marijuana was apprehended, police said. The suspect remains in the hospital for additional testing and felony warrants will be obtained shortly for felony drug possession and numerous misdemeanor traffic violations.
