Bullets went flying through a home during a birthday celebration for a 3-year-old child. A one-month-old baby was also caught in the crossfire, according to the family.

The birthday celebration was just about to wrap up when the family heard gunshots entering their home. The mother tells FOX 46 she was so scared, she wanted officers to kick down the front door.

"We are scared to stay the night here. We are scared to get our freaking clothes," Taurese Williams said.

The home, along Westgate Lane in the Westchester neighborhood, is now riddled with bullets. Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday someone started shooting. At least two bullets, came straight through the front window.

"That is a bullet hole lodged in my kitchen freaking wall,” Williams said.

Williams had just finished celebrating a birthday for her 3-year-old daughter. A one-month-old baby and three other children were also inside the house, when bullets started flying.

"I don’t understand why we were targeted. I don't understand why," Williams said.

Thankfully, the kids weren't physically hurt, but an innocent 3-year-old girl was frightened on her own birthday.

"When she heard the noise she started crying and screaming asking if it was the boogey man,” said Williams.

The person who pulled up outside, left behind some evidence. CMPD found tire tracks in the front yard. The family is now hopeful that it's enough to send a suspect to jail.

"Bullets don't have a name on it so when you shot, whoever it may be, you don't have a care in the world you didn't know what was in the house. There is just no care in the world."

The family tells FOX 46 they moved into the home in November 2017, and believe this may have been a case of mistaken identity, from the person who lived there before.
