Suspect surrenders to CMPD after fleeing to rooftop to avoid arrest

A suspect who fled to a rooftop just outside of uptown Charlotte to avoid arrest has turned himself in to police, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. 

The suspect has been identified as Tyrone Singleton, 35. Police said he was wanted for assault, kidnapping, and domestic violence related charges. 

The Violent Criminal Apprehension Team responded to a home on Hough Street Thursday, Nov. 30 in an attempt to locate Singleton. 

Upon arrival, Singleton fled to Honeywood and Rozzelles Ferry and climbed on the roof of building in an attempt to avoid arrest. Detectives and officers spoke with him, as well as his family on the phone, to help bring him down safely into custody. 

Nearby streets were temporarily closed Thursday until the situation was resolved.
