Suspects arrested on I-77 connected to TJ Maxx thefts

Four people were taken into custody on Interstate-77 Thursday afternoon in Mecklenburg County in connection to a larceny case at a local store, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

According to police, two males and a female entered the store, located at 12740 S. Tryon Street, and cut off the security devices to several Michael Kors purses. The suspects ran out of the store with the purses and got into a waiting vehicle.

Interstate-77 was shut down Thursday as officers pursued the four suspects that were wanted for a recent theft at a TJ Maxx in Rivergate Plaza on South Tryon Street.

The four arrests resulted in the right lane of I-77 northbound at Exit 5 being shutdown.

Tyrae Colman, 19, Michael Dugger, 32, Derrell Woods, 35, and Camry Johnson, 16 have all been charged in connection to the case.

Detectives believe that this group is responsible for more than 60 cases that involve more than $200,000 in stolen merchandise involving TJ Maxx and Victoria Secret stores in Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia and Rock Hill.

A fifth suspect, Vannostrand Arnold, 25, has also been charged in connection with this series of larcenies, police said.
