Suspicious package found outside Carolinas Medical Center

Emergency personnel have given the "all-clear" at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte after a suspicious package was found near an ambulance Wednesday morning. This is the second suspicious package found at the hospital since Friday.

The unidentified item was found near an ambulance Wednesday morning. The Charlotte Fire Department's Hazmat team responded and officials determined the object was safe. Charlotte-Mecklenubrg police told Fox 46 News they are now treating the investigation as a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.

During the investigation, MEDIC rerouted emergency ambulance traffic to an alternate Carolinas Healthcare System hospital. They continued to transport patients with life-threatening injuries to the trauma center at CMC.

On Friday morning, the emergency room was evacuated after a beeping item was found inside a medical waste bin. The item was later determined to be an epinephrine autoinjector.
