Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a man after he barricaded himself inside a west Charlotte home. Family members said a 1-year-old child was also inside the home.

CMPD and SWAT were called Thursday morning to a home at Reid Avenue and West Boulevard.

Officers on scene told FOX46 that SWAT was trying to make an arrest of a suspect with a violent criminal history. That's when the suspect barricaded himself in the home.

Family members and by-standers said a 1-year-old was also inside.

Officers could be seen walking the suspect away from the scene in handcuffs. A SWAT officer could be seen carrying a young child in a blanket.

No names have been released.

Reid Boulevard had to be blocked off as police responded to the scene.
