Teachers Getting Results: Kyra Gunn of Unionville Elementary

FOX 46 Charlotte recognizes teachers getting results in the classroom. This week, we meet Mrs. Kyra Gunn-- an educator who loves to laugh with her students.

"I think she definitely deserves it," said Student Cade Griffith.  "She has done so much hard work for us."

She's an enthusiastic teacher who loves to laugh with her students.

"Sometimes to the detriment of the lesson," said Gunn laughing.

She's a teacher at Unionville Elementary-- and is described by others as creative and kind.

"Kyra Gunn is beyond a shadow of a doubt one of the most innovative and creative teachers I've ever known," said Unionville Elementary Principal Sharyn VonCannon.

She's been a teacher for 22 years now.  Mrs. Gunn loves that every day brings a new adventure.

"My favorite thing about teaching is that no two days are ever the same," said Gunn.  "You can be a teacher and learner simultaneously."

She encourages her kids to create.  It's her hard work inside the classroom that's earned her recognition as this week's teacher getting results.

"I'm grateful and humble-- but in our school, all our teachers are worthy," said Gunn.  "And we all make each other better."

She wants her students to leave her classroom knowing they've accomplished something.

"I want them to be inspired to follow their dreams and take what they're learning in school and apply it to things they're passionate about," she said.
