Teen arrested in Albemarle shooting

Arrested: 16-year-old Jimmy Parker

Albemarle Police have charged a teen for fatally shooting a man who was driving down the street.

Cordarus Maurice Leake, 28, was fatally shot while driving on Inger Street in Albemarle over a week ago. After investigating authorities were led to Jimmy Jaquavis Parker, 16.

Police say Cordarus crashed into the front door of the Holiday Inn Express on Leonard Avenue Wednesday, September 2. Once police arrived, they realized he had been shot, and was unresponsive from the gunshot wound.

Parker was arrested Monday, September 14, and charged with first degree murder. He did not receive bond, but his next court appearance will be September 21. Police say Parker is currently at the Stanly County Jail.
