Teen charged in Huntersville wreck that killed woman, 2 dogs

A 16-year-old boy is facing charges in connection to a fatal wreck in Huntersville at the end of December

The crash happened about 2 p.m. in the 10300 block of McCoy Road on Dec. 30. One person was killed in the wreck and four other people were injured including a child, according to Huntersville Fire.

Two dogs were also killed.

On Thursday, deputies arrested 16-year-old Jonathan Bales in connection to the crash. He is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury and one count of involuntary manslaughter. 

Officers say they located three patients inside a 2016 Jeep Patriot. The driver, identified as 56-year-old Lisa May Overfield, was pronounced deceased at Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte.  The front seat passenger, identified as 60-year-old Michael Croxton, had life threatening injuries and was transported to Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte by Medic.  The third passenger, a juvenile, was transported to Levine’s Children’s Hospital in Charlotte with serious injuries.

Officers also located two patients from inside a 2017 Honda Accord.  The driver, identified as 16-year-old Jonathan Bales, and front seat passenger, identified as 16-year-old Angelica Toledo, were transported to Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte by Medic with non-life threatening injuries.
