Teen pleads guilty in robbery, murder of Charlotte mom

A 19-year-old has pleaded guilty to his involvement in the robbery and murder of a Charlotte mom. 

The Clerk of Courts for Mecklenburg County says Antonio Shine accepted the charges of murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, and will serve 20- 25 years in prison. 

Shine was arrested on April 4, 2018 after a woman, later identified as 36-year-old Maria Eduvigig Echeverria de Gomez, 36, was shot during the incident that spanned across two different neighborhoods in east Charlotte.

Gomez was on her way to work when the incident occurred. She was transported to CMC-Main for treatment where she was pronounced dead.

A’vone Williams, 17, Ziaya Jackson, 16, and an unnamed 15-year-old were also arrested and charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon after Shine was taken into custody.
