A 16-year-old is facing charges after police say he and a friend broke at least two cars early Monday morning in north Charlotte.

Officers were called to the 7800 block of Buddy Holly Road where a witness said that two people were breaking into vehicles in his neighborhood. The man told police that he saw two people exit a White Chevy, accompanied by an unknown colored Mitsubishi Galant, approach a home and enter a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up that was parked in the driveway.  One of the suspect began rummaging through the vehicle as the second suspect, later identified as Da’Niquae Osborne, approached another home, police said.

Police say as Osborne began walking through another yard, the witness exited his vehicle and attempted to detain Osborne.  Osborne began running back toward the suspect vehicle, along with the other suspect.  According to police, Osborne continued running through the surrounding neighborhoods but was eventually caught by the witness.  The witness walked Osborne back to the incident location where they met the officers.

Osborne, who is 16, is charged with two counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny. He was taken to the Mecklenburg County Jail
