CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Friday will be a transition day as a cold front swings through the area later this evening. Temperatures will start on the mild side but will drop throughout the day.
Watch out for windy conditions in the mountain counties with gusts of up to 45 mph possible through 8 pm. Winter returns this weekend as temperatures drop dramatically in the wake of that cold front.

Sunday: Cloudy and cold. Hi: 47 Lo: 41
Next week will start on a soggy note with a 70 percent chance for rain showers both Monday and Tuesday. A few lingering showers are possible Wednesday.
Temperatures will gradually warm Monday through Thursday of next week with highs eventually getting back into the low 60s.
