Thousands raised for sensory garden in memory of UNC-Charlotte student

The community is coming together to raise money for a sensory garden in memory of a UNC Charlotte student who tragically died after falling off a party bus last summer in uptown.

Polly Rogers, 20, who was a sophomore, passed away in May 2018 after police said she fell out of the party bus' emergency exit just before 10:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of N. Tryon Street.

Rogers died of multiple blunt trauma injuries from being hit by cars, the medical examiner said.

From now until April 19, 2019 Rogers' family and friends, along with the UNC Charlotte community, are coming together to honor her memory with a sensory garden which will be located in the Botanical Gardens at UNC Charlotte.

The Polly Rogers Sensory Garden, designed with children in mind, will engage and stimulate all the senses through plantings and interactive elements.
