Trash finally picked up from north Charlotte neighborhood

FOX 46 is getting results for a neighborhood that had trash left on the curb since before Thanksgiving, and since our story aired, a state representative is taking action, calling for the attorney general to get involved.

“The trash has been piled up since Thanksgiving. We’ve had no help no service,” neighbor Starr Hannon said.

For weeks, trash bags and garbage cans lined the streets of McClure Rd. Not only was it an eyesore -- it started to create several concerns.

“I have children and its germs and you have people visiting you and the trash is piled up to the ceiling, it’s just not good,” said Hannon.

Neighbors reached out to FOX 46 to get results.

“It’s degrading. It brings the value down of our properties,” another neighbor told FOX 46.

We went by Carolina Disposal-- the company responsible for picking up the trash. They told us they were experiencing mechanical failures., and didn't have enough trucks to cover all areas.

Now, state representative Chaz Beasely is taking action.

In a letter to Carolina Disposal, Beasley says he's received a large number of complaints and is demanding the company step up to fix the issue, including picking up trash from each customer, waving cancellation fees for customers switching providers and restoring regular service to customers.

A copy of the letter was sent to attorney general Josh Stein.

Also since FOX 46’s story aired, another trash company did step in to help those customers on McClure Rd., Taylor-Made sanitation picked up the trash for those residents on Thursday.
