Troopers: Fatal wreck on Highway 321 caused by distracted driver

One woman is dead following a violent crash that shutdown the highway for hours in Gaston County late Wednesday afternoon. 

According to state troopers, a distracted driver is to blame.

Investigators tell Fox 46 the victim appears to have been driving about 30-miles per hour on Highway 321 in Dallas when a pickup truck going roughly 70 rear-ended her car.

The truck's driver later admitting he was distracted by tree cutters on the side of the road that he had been watching.

Adding he never saw the slow moving Nissan in front of him.

The 49-year-old woman we're told was killed on impact.

Her passenger, who was taken to the hospital is expected to be okay.
                   
At this time no charges have been filed against the pick-up driver.
