CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Two men have been charged in connection to a series of robberies that have taken place in Charlotte and date back to 2017, authorites said on Sunday.
Jonathan Gardin, 34, and Mandale Huntley, 26, were taken into custody after the latest incident and may have been involved in robbing over 40 stores, police say.
On Sunday Gardin was leaving a Family Dollar nearby Valleydale Road when he started running after noticing a patrol car. He was apprehended by the officers and a K-9 unit assisted.
A short while later police discovered a gun, which the suspect threw during the foot chase, police say.
Huntley was driving the getaway car, authorities said.
The two are being connected to at least three other robberies that involved other Charlotte businesses.
FBI Agent Jason Kaplan credited "Good old fashion police work". "Officers saw someone suspicious who looked a little slow on his feet and they took off after him."
