CHAPEL HILL, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A device was detonated at the University of Chapel Hill today, according to campus authorities.
Photos from the scene show a flames going up a tree near where the device went off. The University released this message through their "Alert Carolina' system earlier today:
UNC Police Investigating Detonation of Device in McCorkle Place
UNC Police are investigating the detonation of a small device at Davie Poplar in McCorkle Place. Please avoid the area. A suspect is in custody. Cameron Avenue is currently closed to through traffic between S. Columbia St. and Raleigh St.
