23-year-old UNCC student Emily Houpt is expected to walk at her upcoming graduation despite being shot during Tuesday's horrific shooting on campus.

"One of the people receiving their degree this week is Emily Houpt, one of the victims, one of the injured. And we are delighted that she will be able to go across the stage," said UNCC Chancellor Philip Dubois.

The 23-year-old is a Charlotte native. Chancellor Dubois says he got to visit with Emily and the other injured students at the hospital this week.

"They were all quite alert and in a positive spirit. Their families were clearly shaken but they were surrounded by many many friends," he said.

According to the UNCC directory, Emily is listed as an international studies major.
