CINCINNATI - Students and school officials at Xavier University are furious after a pair of apparently racist images began circulating on social media Tuesday, according to WGHP.
The Snapchat photo shows a young woman wearing black face paint with the caption, “Who needs white when black lives matter,” according to FOX19.
The second photo shows a skeleton wearing a traditional West African dashiki hanging from a window.
Xavier University President Mike Graham released a statement on the matter, calling the photos “unacceptable:”
“Racist actions are unacceptable on our campus, and we have mechanisms to respond in a responsible and thoughtful manner. When one of us falls short, we all fall short,” Graham’s email continued. “Many of our students, of all races, are in pain over this. Steps are being taken to make sure that all members of the Xavier community know that we must act with integrity, justice and generosity, in solidarity for and with each other.”
