Uptown road shut down after gas line cut

Charlotte Fire Department

The Charlotte Fire Department says a roadway is shut down in uptown after a gas line was cut by a construction crew Monday morning. Firefighters have controlled the incident and said it's safe to return to surrounding buildings.

Crews were called to the scene near the 300 block of East Trade Street just after 10:15 a.m.

FOX 46 Charlotte was on scene and saw fire trucks blocking the area. So far, no injuries have been reported. It took 16 firefighters about 90 minutes to get the gas leak under control.

The Gold Line service remains suspended due to the gas leak at Trade and Davidson, CATS said. A bus bridge is in place.
