Victim identified from Saturday's deadly shooting in NE Charlotte

One person is dead after being shot in north east Charlotte, according to authorities.

North Tryon Officers responded Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m. to reports of gunfire near West Sugar Creek Road and I-85.

The victim, 21-year-old Tyshawn Boyd, was transported to Atrium Main Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Only one person was shot, police say. It is yet to be determined if the identity of the suspect is known or if the victim was targeted.

Charlotte has now seen 20 homicides in 2019. The district attorney's office has the authority to change that number pending ongoing investigations.
