Police are working to identify a man in connection to a burglary and sexual assault in Gastonia. Video of the man was released on Friday.

In the video, a man is seen pulling on sliding glass doors-- the same way the sexual assault suspect broke into an apartment in the Georgetown Woods complex and attacked a woman around 11 p.m. on Jan. 6.

“A man entered an apartment complex through a sliding glass door,” said Donna Lasher with the Gastonia Police Department. "We want to get him into custody as soon as possible."

The video was taken a couple of streets over at the Quail Woods Apartment complex around 1:30 a.m.  on Jan. 2. Police want to warn the Gastonia community that this man could be dangerous.

Police believe the man caught in the video sneaking around Quail Woods could be connected to the Georgetown Woods incident.

The suspect who broke into the woman’s apartment is described as 6 feet 2 inches with a dark complexion and narrow cheeks. Police say he is a danger to the community around East Hudson Boulevard.

With a man hunt underway, police ask residents keep use a security bar on their sliding glass door. One neighbor who lives nearby says he keeps a chair up under his doorknob.

Police say any suspicious persons should be reported immediately at 704-866-3300. Anyone who can identify the subject, or has information on the case is asked to call Detective H.B. Houser at 704-836-0041.
