Waxhaw Christmas Parade cancelled due to upcoming inclement weather

The Waxhaw Christmas Parade has been cancelled due to inclement weather, the town mayor said.

"With every event, our staff puts the safety and well-being of our town, our residents and participants first and foremost. Today, due to the forecast for winter weather from Saturday through Monday, the town has made the very difficult decision to cancel the Christmas Parade.

We are all disappointed. Team Waxhaw, which includes our staff as well as all of our parade participants, has worked so hard on what was to be our largest parade ever.

When we host and gather for events like this in Waxhaw, we have the opportunity to come together and experience and deepen our love and appreciation for this great community. We ask that this weekend, we all do it close to home. Share this same spirit of the season with your neighbor. Take to the Town of Waxhaw’s social media page and share with us and everyone a joyous holiday experience. When you see our staff, thank them for their hard work in creating community. And of course focus on your safety and well-being. Once the weather clears, come down and experience the splendor of our downtown in this holiday season," Waxhaw Mayor Steve Maher said.
