A Waxhaw man has been arrested after he sent multiple inappropriate Snapchats to a teenager, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.

Gavin Thomas Head, 50, of Waxhaw, is charged with three counts of disseminating obscenity and three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was arrested at his home Tuesday night and is being held at the Union County Jail.

According to the sheriff's office, the investigation began last Friday night at a high school football game between Parkwood and Cuthbertson.

An alert parent observed a man, later identified as Head, sitting near a group of teenage girls. One of the girls in the group informed the parent that the suspicious man had been attempting to communicate, via Snapchat, with another teen in the group.

The parent confronted Head who ran to a bathroom. The parent notified deputies working security detail at the game. Deputies spoke with Head but he denied having a Snapchat account. Head left the game as deputies began an investigation.

Detectives and School Resource officers spoke with several high school teens about communication, via Snapchat, with Head. Detectives determined that Head used multiple accounts to communicate with teenagers and allegedly disseminated inappropriate photos and videos.

Head also allegedly solicited inappropriate material from at least one of the teens.

Detectives executed a search warrant at Head’s home earlier this week. Several electronic devices were seized and are still being forensically examined. Detectives are continuing the investigation and suspect Head has communicated with additional victims.
