CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - National Puppy Day is Saturday and is a day to celebrate the fluffy, cuteness, and loving pets we have all come to adore, and maybe even find a new furry friend to bring home.
One of the most important roles of National Puppy Day is to bring attention to how many puppies need a home. Nearly four million dogs enter shelters every year, according to the Animal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The Humane Society of Charlotte as well as can help find a puppy for you.
National Puppy Day was established in 2006. The American Kennel Club recently announced the most popular dog breeds with Labrador topping the list for the 28th consecutive year.
