Widow of Fort Mill soldier who died in Iraq remembers husband

A 24-year-old soldier who graduated from Fort Mill High School lost his life a little more than two weeks ago. His wife spoke with FOX 46 about how she's still trying to cope with the tragic loss of her husband, Javion Sullivan.

“It’s been 'us' for so long I’m not sure how to do life with someone I’ve been doing life with since middle school,” his wife Rayven Sullivan said.

She was fighting back tears Wednesday evening as she talked about Javion.

“We started dating in 2005. He was very persistent, he would not leave me alone until I communicated with him on a daily basis," she said.

Her husband died on Jan. 8 while on a mission in Iraq. She had just spoken to him the day before.

“I asked who it was and the only thing I heard was Fort Hood and instantly my heart dropped. Our last conversation was about my gradation party and him coming home and about his new car he wanted," she said.

He leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter.

“I haven’t had the conversation with her yet and when we do visitation on Thursday it will be her first time seeing what's going on,” she said.

Rayven said she still isn't clear how her husband died, but what keeps her strong is her daughter and the man great man she said her husband was.

“His personality, his sense of humor, his drive. His drive was everything. I don’t think I’ve met anyone who really has a drive to go above and behind in everything they do," she said.

As his wife mentioned, Javion's viewing will be Thursday evening in Greer, South Carolina while his funeral with be in Spartanburg on Friday
