Wildlife officers hold boat safety inspection

As summer approaches, wildlife officers with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commissions are preaching boater safety.

Officers held a free inspection at Beatty's Ford Park in Denver on Monday.

Officers say boats are required to have proper registration and be equip with a United States Coast Guard approved fire extinguisher and one life jacket per boater.

According to officers, life jackets are required even if you're able to swim.

Officers also warn that drinking-and-driving laws still apply. You cannot operate a boat with a BAC of .08 or higher.
