A woman died Wednesday afternoon after she was hit by an SUV that ran off the road into her yard in Cabarrus County.
The woman saved her husband's life, according to highway patrol.
The accident happened on Highway 200 and Vanderburg Drive. 74-year-old Evelyn Tarlton was planting shrubs in her front yard with her husband when she was hit.
Highway patrol says she saved her husbands life after yelling at him to get out of the way.
Troopers say 26-year-old Shane Stanley is the driver of the SUV that killed Tarlton.
Highway patrol says Stanley crossed the center line drifting into a neighbors front yard before ending up in Tarlton's front yard.
Stanley suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Charges are pending at this time.
Highway patrol is continuing to investigative the cause of the accident.
