CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have identified a woman they say was hit by a car as she was crossing the street last week in south Charlotte as 81-year-old Christa Frazier.
The accident happened about 6 p.m. near Sharon Road and Rutherford Drive. According to police, Frazier was crossing to the west when she was struck by a 2005 Lexus RX330. The car was traveling northeast in the left hand lane.
Frazier was not crossing in a crosswalk, but police noted that there are no crosswalks in the area.
Residents in the area say the accident highlights the need for changes along the widely used road.
