To raise awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer, the York County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday they will wear pink bands on their badges through the month of October.

To have the opportunity to wear the pink bands, employees must donate $5.

This awareness event will lead into No-Shave November for the sheriff's office, where staff members donate $20 for the opportunity to not shave for the month of November to bring awareness for male cancers.

Female employees will be allowed to continue to wear the pink bands through November and wear pink shirts with their uniforms.

In 2015 Sheriff’s Office employees raised $2,260 in No-Shave November. The hope in 2016 is to surpass that goal. The money raised will go to help local people fighting breast cancer.
