CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and now the self proclaimed "fastest sport on two feet" is partnering with the "fastest sport on four wheels."
The 2019 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft will be held at NASCAR Hallf of Fame Saturday, March 9 in Charlotte. It will be the first time the draft is held in the Queen City and the first time it is held in March.
MLL commissioner Alexander Brown who spoke of the importance of highlighting Charlotte as one of the important markets in their sport.
"This has been a great market, the deep south has been a great market for the MLL," said Brown. "So we like to expand down here. The hounds have been here for 7 years and have really developed quite a following and we're looking forward to building on that as we go forward."
The draft will be held the same weekend as the Crown Lacrosse Classic, which is the first independent college lacrosse tournament held in Charlote, featuring premier schools like Cornell, Jacksonville, Penn State, and Townson.
