Luke Kuechly leaves game early with concussion

Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly had to leave the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars early after it was determined he had a concussion.

Kuechly wobbled to the ground Sunday after tackling Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon late in the first half. Kuechly tried to stand up but dropped to the ground again. He was immediately taken into the locker room, and the team later said he would not return. Shaq Thompson replaced him.

Kuechly recently became the NFL's highest-paid middle linebacker when he signed a contract extension for $61.8 million.

Kuechly has an NFL-best 473 tackles since coming into the league as a first-round draft pick in 2012. He's one of only three players to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year award within his first two years, earning that honor in 2013.
