A New Orleans newspaper is taking a major jab at the Carolina Panthers over the result of the NFC wild card game against the Saints.
Monday morning's front page edition of The Times-Picayune had the headline: "The Panthers already have a new owner: The New Orleans Saints."
The Panthers fell short in Sunday's match up, losing to the Saints 31-26. Missed opportunities in the first half had Carolina playing catch up, but to no avail.
Carolina majority owner Jerry Richardson announced during the regular season that he would be selling his share of the team at the conclusion of the NFL season following allegations od workplace misconduct.
Richardson stepped down as chief operating officer. The team named Tina Becker as his replacement. Becker has been with the Panthers for 20 years and controls the team's day-to-day operations in her new role.
Sunday's loss ends the Panthers' season. The Saints will travel to Minneapolis to take on the Vikings.
